If you have a smartphone or tablet, there are a lot of apps to earn gift cards and a way to do that is through mPOINTS (as it is formerly known), now called mPLUS Rewards. I used to be a big fan of this program as it was always popping up with notifications in a lot of the apps I already use, such as the Weather Channel app. After seeing that little gift box icon too many times, I had to click on it and see what it was about, and found the mPLUS program.
While I used to be a big fan of this method, it has fallen out of favor for me lately as it takes too long to reach a decent payout level. It seems they are always adjusting the amount of points needed to reach, say, a $5 Amazon gift card, and I found my time was better spent elsewhere where I could be more efficient when trying to earn free gift cards online.
Earning Gift Cards with Apps
You can redeem your mPOINTS at a number of different stores. I always use it for Amazon, but there’s such as Chipotle, Nike, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Sears, Buffalo Wild Wings, JC Penney, Walmart, and tons of others. It’s quite an extensive list, actually, so if you put in the time to earn points for gift cards, you have a lot of places to cash them in.
The way it works is by performing certain functions within an app. For example, with the Weather Channel app I get points for simply opening the app, for watching videos, checking radar reports, etc. There are all sorts of apps that participate with mPLUS, whether they be games to play or more functional/informational apps like Weather Channel, Dictionary.com, stuff like that.
After earning points by performing the tasks, click on the mPLUS notification that pops up (looks like a gift box) and then click on each of the achievements to collect the points. Some tasks get you a few points, some earn you 5, 10, 25, etc. In between each achievement you click on (collect), sometimes you get a little video or ad to engage with to earn you some bonus points. You can also get points daily on each app for tweeting about it (you’ll see it on my Twitter feed quite often).
Like I said, I don’t use this one as actively I used to, where I would play/use every app I could until I hit the daily limit, but I still collect points when notifications pop up in the apps that I do use personally, and if I’m bored and sitting somewhere with time on my hands I still play a bit – especially with the mindless games where all you need to do is click around a bit to earn different achievements.
So, while this network isn’t the most efficient way to earn gift cards by playing games, a little bit at a time does add up after a while, so I don’t entirely ignore it. But, I still dedicate most of my time to earning Swagbucks.
